What dog owners are saying
Recent review snippets help visitors gauge vibe, upkeep, and who each park suits best.
We're visiting the area for work and decided to bring our dogs with us. We stayed at a pet-friendly hotel nearby and found this dog park listed online. It was easy to find with plenty of parking. There's a huge area with lots of trees and a walking path. There's also a smaller area for smaller or more timid dogs. The entrance gates have double access so There's space to safely remove leashes without fear that your pup could run off. Inside the area, there's a water fountain for filling bowls with fresh, clean water. We loved this dog park so much that we went 2 days in a row and one of the days was rainy. 😊
Read more about Stoll Off-Leash Dog ParkStoll Park is a wonderful green space tucked into suburban Overland Park. It features a large off-leash dog park that's often lively and well-used by local dog owners. In addition to several soccer fields, the park boasts a surprisingly extensive and well-maintained trail system for its size. The west side offers some nice wooded areas that provide a bit of shade and natural scenery, while the east side has a charming little pond bordered by cattails, perfect for a peaceful stroll or a quick nature break. One of the best features is that the trails connect directly to the Johnson County Community College (JCCC) campus on the north end, making it a convenient spot for students and community members alike.
Read more about Thomas S. Stoll Memorial ParkReally enjoyed my times here, and the dogs loved the huge size to roam and run. Concrete paths for humans to walk in circles, too. Great people to chat and enjoy the fresh air and scenery. I left behind my dog training device which I had just bought. I was disappointed the next day when I didn't see it on the bench where I had left it. Then, upon leaving I noticed it tied near one of the exit gates to my joyful surprise. If you are the one who found it, I am most grateful for your integrity. Dog people are the best.
Read more about Heritage Park Dog Off-Leash AreaIt is so nice to have a separate area for small dogs. Appreciate the parks folks thinking ahead and including a trash bin and poop bags in the middle of the area. There's only one bench in the small pup area and it's at one end (near the entrance). Since the space is long and narrow it would be great to have another seating option that isn't at the end. There is also a low spot in the ground right in front of the only bench so there's a mud puddle in front of the only seating option. The water drinking option is good but was turned off for winter season; probably not a way around that. Even without recent rain, the little pup area was VERY muddy in December. Since this area is downhill from the enormous large dog area, it'll probably never be NOT muddy. Restrooms are quite far from the pup park. The biggest 2 things for Leawood to improve in order to get a 5-star from me would be at least one more bench and better drainage. A bonus would be to increase the space for small pups to include some of the space uphill where the ground is already less wet.
