My boxer Nica and I came here this morning and we really enjoyed it. We did a double loop (it’s not that big but we didn’t mind). There are two places to stop on the river to watch manatees or fish or just enjoy the view.

I went today for the first time. There is really no parking spots, so I just pulled my car over (no other cars around! I was hoping I parked in the right spot). There are different trails you can take, I guess if you aren’t following the map, you could be going in circles. Found the boardwalk and 2 different lookout points looking over the water. I followed the map and took the long way around. There were many tiny lizards and I came across a gopher turtle. There are picnic tables scattered around so you could pack a lunch and relax. I’ll be back, it was nice.

Although this trail is pretty small, in comparison to the massive hiking spots I usually go to, it is quite gorgeous! A couple bonus features - there are restrooms here, and even better – you can bring your pups! That’s right! This is a dog friendly, hiking trail. No bicycles allowed. It’s not very long, at a medium to slow pace, you could do the whole thing in probably 30 minutes. There are a couple of nice viewing decks where you might have the opportunity to see a manatee or alligator. I have seen plenty gopher tortoises here, and a few snakes. I strongly suggest spraying yourself with insect repellent to not only avoid ravenous, biting flies and mosquitoes, but ticks as well.

Nice clean trails. Rather short didn't see any wildlife other than a ? Golden eagle? It is dog friendly, which is hard to find in the area, however there are cactus along the tail so beware. Haven't seen those on any other trail in the area.

Clean and well kept. It's the perfect park to take a stroll on a beautiful day. I didn't notice any playgrounds so it may not be suited for small children. There are bathrooms and picnic areas.
