I've been a visitor of this beautiful little park for decades, as long as I've lived in Santa Ana (my entire life, minus college years and travel!), and Angel's Park is always a welcoming sight amid the hustle and bustle--and often the traffic and overcrowded street parking--of the Civic Center area.
A lifesaving feature of Angel's Park is it's surprisingly clean and modernized restrooms, which apparently remain open for locals in need of facilities basically 365 days each year. I could be wrong, but I can attest to the fact that I've been able to access the toilet/sinks regardless of the time/date for DECADES!
Secondly, I was unfortunately a member of our city's unhoused population for more years than I like to admit (once you've lost your home and vehicle and everything else that makes life a positive experience), and I noticed a refreshing lack of harassment towards Santana's most vulnerable peoples from both sides of the law in this particular location.
I have also had the need again this past year to frequent the Angel's Park neighborhood due to my outpatient recovery program and the lack of free public parking hereabouts, and was quite relieved to see how this park has changed since my days under society's "barrel." For instance, this year Angel's Park is nearly constantly used by neighborhood children (obviously not during school hours), playing basketball or eating snacks against the beautifully painted mural covering the far wall, seemingly oblivious to the unseen darkness of the underworld of Santa Ana's desperate outcasts. Maybe this upgrade , among numerous other "gentrification" improvements to the local area, wouldn't have been the most welcome realization back in my previous life as a street urchin, but today I couldn't be more relieved to know Santa Ana is progressing towards the family-friendly ideal seen in Orange and southern cities of Orange County, CA.
Last week the park's softball field was swarming with men and women dressed in their office best ("business casual"?) and milling around, some holding square white signs boldy numbered in black lettering. I asked one of the several parking attendants manning the streets surrounding Angel's Park what was the occasion, and was informed the event was no more than a "fire drill" of a nearby office.
In conclusion, Angel's Park has come a long way the past several years, and the block-square fenced greenbelt is complete with a well-maintained playground, a beautiful mural depicting some of our city's finest locals of the past century or so, and a modernized and well-kept restrooms that remains helpfully open for those in need of the facilities most of the years. As one of our local parks. Angel's is now an "endangered species" and I urge citizens and visitors alike to cherish and ensure the longevity of one of our sparse few spaces dedicated to community's enjoyment of our Great Outdoors!

This park is not family friendly. You just don't feel safe here. There's a lot of homeless people in the place and also gangsters.

This is a nice little park in downtown Santa Ana, blocks away from the OC civic center. It has a basketball court, baseball field and playground.

This park is super sketchy at best. A lot of dangerous people hang out at this park. Homeless individuals with serious mental health issues will come to this park to sleep there. This park is heavily vandalized on a nightly basis. individuals will use this park for recreational drug use. the restroom facility is there are there look like a prison facility restroom at best. do not bring children here.

Not a good park to bring your kids. Very calm and empty but also a lot of homeless people who like to sleep next to the playground and take up the area. Very poorly maintained. Bathrooms are an absolute mess. Good park for chilling with friends, bad park to bring your family.
