Some areas of the trail are nice, others are not. The beginning of the trail is beautiful and you can see HPU students hanging out in campus which is a nice vibe. As it goes further, it becomes surrounded by low income houses with some scrap and trash in the creek and wooden areas. Theres an abandoned track field that doesn't look nice either. The tunnels that goes under the roads and highways are really cool though. The last half is further out in the country has many nice wooden bridges and the houses are nicer too, but I still prefer to not to see them. I would suggest them to clean up the trash, block the view of the houses and the track field and do more to beautify the place

Armstrong Park is an overall very enjoyable park, one of the nicest in High Point. The park offers a playground, picnic shelter, pickleball courts, and a Baseball field. There is a lovely creek running through the park. The High Point Greenway starts here and cuts through the center of the park, which is lovely to bike down, as I did. The Picnic Center is nice and boasts eight picnic tables. The biggest issue with this park is how dirty it is. All throughout the park, there is litter, which is very sad to see in a large green space with flowing water such as this. Otherwise, this park is a great spot to eat lunch, go on a bike ride, or simply enjoy a park. (Date of visit: 6/28)

Greenways trail is paved which is nice for biking, walking, running and roller blading. Only 1 point where you have to leave the park and cross the street to continue the trail. As a trailhead you can walk from Armstrong all the way through the north end of the high point university campus. Once you go through the tunnel there is a fence on each side (presumably to prevent trail hikers from casually walking onto campus. But it’s nice if you have a dog that gets off the leash. Once you enter this portion you cannot leave the trail until you pass completely though campus. There’s a little creek that runs alongside the trail on this entire portion of the path. Really nice area. Pickle ball and basketball courts available at Armstrong as well.

Calm, peaceful park. I like hanging out while the parents watch their kids on the playground. Trash like pics attached is not the norm. (August 2024).

Love this park its always clean and a great place to take the kids and dogs. Parking can be difficult at times depending on what events are going on.
