Aurantia Park is a fantastic community space—clean, well-maintained, and perfect for families. But for anyone with roots in this area, it's so much more than just a park. It’s a tangible connection to the history that lies just beneath the surface of our modern neighborhoods. As the son of a man raised by his grandparents on what was then Elder Gulch Road, this park holds special significance for me. I grew up hearing my dad's stories of life here when Highland was the citrus capital of the nation. He'd talk about having to get up on frigid winter mornings to help light the smudge pots in the groves to protect the oranges from frost before heading off to catch the school bus. That was life in the shadow of the mighty Gold Buckle packing house, which provided the company housing they lived in. I was just a four-year-old kid when the Gold Buckle fire lit up the night sky in 1971. In reality, I'm not sure if I truly remember the glow of the flames myself or if my memory is built more from the vivid stories my father has shared over the years. Either way, that event marked the end of an era. Setting that aside, it's incredible to think how many people living in the beautiful homes of East Highlands Ranch today have no idea their neighborhood sits on land with such a rich history. This park serves as a perfect tribute. Seeing a preserved portion of the old Plunge Creek Bridge here is a powerful reminder of the world that once was. Aurantia Park isn't just a place for our dogs to play. I's a place that helps us "remember when" and honors the citrus pioneers who shaped this community.

One of my favorite parks to come for a walk and let my pup off her leash. The park is surrounded with beautiful mountains covered with lush green hills.

First time visit It was my second day trip to Highland Saw the park on the way to Old Greenspot Bridge Stopped on the way back It is a great, well maintained park with ample parking There is a play area, picnic tables, medium playing field next to dog park and public bathrooms Popular park There are walking paths in and around the park as well Great location for individuals, families with or without children and pet owners

Clean park in a nice area. Short walking trails surround it's boarders Dog park has several tables and benches inside the enclosure to sit, eat, and enjoy watching your dogs have a good time. Bizniss bags provided cuz dogs just love a good public pooping! 🤣 My dachshunds would rather hang out on the people'ly side and roll around in the grass because they're weird and have attachment issues! Overall, great place to spend time with the furkids (or regular kids if your weird like that) or, have a picnic (bring some wet wipes as the tables tend to be dusty and birdie pooped upon), get your exercise in, or just chill. Open from dawn till dusk and IS enforced by HPD.
