Ballast Point Park is truly a hidden gem. I’ve been coming here since I was a kid, and it’s always been a peaceful, well-kept park with beautiful waterfront views. There are great spots to sit and relax, a nice playground, and normally an awesome fishing pier that really makes this place special. The only downside right now is that the pier has been closed for a long time, and the delay in reopening it has been frustrating. Once that’s taken care of, this park will easily be back to a full five stars. Still a great place to unwind and enjoy Tampa’s waterfront.

Great place to bring young children and a nice place for adults to take in the gorgeous skyline and panoramic views that few places in this area offer either for free or via easy access. The park is always relatively clean, and the parking lots are easily accessible and there is one on each side of the park. The park rangers have been seen frequenting the area which is always a relief to know it's being attended to properly and gives a bit of a feeling of safety. There's rarely any unusual folks present or loiters who look out of place. If there ever is, it's maybe 1 odd person in the gazebo smoking black milds or some other disgusting smelling thing, which I'm sure can be rectified if I contacted the park rangers or other official. (And next time I will because I bring children here so they're not exposed to society's diseases whether mental or physical or addictive.. so whoever thinks smoking is acceptable, think again! And go smoke in your car. No one wants to smell that crap!) Otherwise, park is very nice. Adults seem to be respectable and expect children to be respectful and are attentive to their kids. It's not one of those drive by drop off places where you see parents just leaving their ill behaved kids in vicinity of other adults and parents to deal with while they go shopping nearby etc. It's a 25 min drive from me and plenty of parks are closer but i keep coming back to this one. I've seen even sharing amongst parents with scooters, balls etc which was very nice to see. Most children are toddlers below 1 yo or up to 4 or 5 at most. Rarely see much older kids. (Also a huge plus for people with smaller kids!)

I’ve been to Ballast Point Park a few times now, and every visit reminds me why people love this spot so much. It has a little bit of everything a long fishing pier, a café, a great playground for kids, open grassy areas, and a beautiful view of downtown Tampa across the water. Even when the park is busy, it still feels calm and relaxing. I love walking out on the pier, especially in the evening when the sun is going down. You’ll sometimes spot dolphins or stingrays if you’re lucky. The café actually has decent seafood too, which was a pleasant surprise. Only downside is the parking fills up fast, and the splash pad seems to be down for repairs pretty often. But honestly, the views and atmosphere make up for it. This is the kind of place where you can come with family, friends, or alone and still have a nice time. Highly recommend checking it out.

This is a beautiful and sort of hidden part towards the end of Bayshore drive. It’s such a lovely spot that’s much more quiet and slow compared to the ever busy Bayshore area. If you have a family, this can be a perfect spot to spend the better part of a day. It has everything you need- a walking path, a big playground, and a cafe. Oh, and bathrooms of course. There’s also a gorgeous view of the distant Tampa skyline overlooking the water. They have swinging benches where you can enjoy the view of the water and it’s so serene. Unfortunately, there is usually a pier & boardwalk you can walk out upon as well. But (assumingly) due to Hurricane Helene & Milton it is still closed down and under construction. That was definitely a bummer but will make the park that much better once it’s open again. Such a lovely little area that’s almost a hidden gem in Tampa!

A great park to come and walk with a view of the bay. Something for everyone. One of the only parks in Tampa that doesn’t smell like marijuana. Family friendly.
