Very short walking area. Some homeless hanging out. Sheriff's car came and parked in the grass for about 30 minutes, causing us to wonder if this was a high crime area. Nice fountains.
Located next to the park, the runoff water treatment facility. My daughter really enjoyed it. It w has a nature walk around the pound made of runoff water dedicated to the BP oil spill. It is educational and if it helps clean pollutants out of the water before in bayou chico.
Really great place to come rest and hang out and see the sights
I am truly fortunate living 3mins-drive form this serene water-treatment pond that doubles as a serene mini-park. I visit pretty much daily and get in my 8K or 10K steps, at 400 steps per loop of the pond. The City does a decent job of maintaining this space, altho' they seem unable to keep both of its two treatment-fountains working at the same time… I'm grateful that one or the other is always working. The small critters around (aquatic turtles, the odd snake, visiting herons and such) are a perpetual delight. Folks drop by to walk their dogs and mostly clean up after their pooches. My only disgust is over those drivers who sit in their parked cars alongside the lil pond, motors idling, chain-smoking away oblivious to their ruination of the air-quality in this otherwise pristine gem of a nature-preserve.
Edit: Added an extra star cause it seems whoever is in charge may have gotten the homeless problem under control. The last few visits it's been much cleaner and haven't seen people looking like they live there. TY Use to love going here and we still do but not as much. We take our dogs to get some much needed exercise in the ball field. Over the last few months the homeless presence has started increasing. People sleeping on the side of the building and using the water fountain and fence's to wash and hang clothes 😒 They are also leaving garbage everywhere. 😠
