Entering the parking area was well organized and the park was really clean. Hike markers were everywhere and helpful. People with dogs did follow instructions and kept their dogs in leashes. There highlight is the cove area and the pond. Elevation is the easiest challenge and If my 10 yr old can do it twice anyone can do it. Truly enjoyed this hike and truly recommend it.

Came here with my boyfriend, since the weather’s been so nice. We had to wait for a few minutes to enter the park, since they let the same amount of people go in as those exiting.
It’s so nice to be surrounded by nature and to see such great views. Make sure to wear comfortable shoes and maybe bring a hiking stick if you have an issue with balance, since there are lots of uneven paths and steps. Overall, it was a really nice park and we walked the entire area. Will definitely visit again!

9 miles of intermediate hiking trails. Beautifully kept. Safe for solo hiking. Dog friendly on leash. Usually a short line to get in on weekends. One car in, one out. Follow entrance road all the way back to small parking lot. Clean restrooms. Friendly hikers. Trail maps. Download app All Trails and you can map your route.

Nice, fun and little challenge trail in Dallas. We did the Escarpment- Fossils valley- Cedar break loop which is 4.2 miles long within 2 hour.
The trails have many uphill and downhill, good lake view from the top of Cat trail to Pond trail. There is a nice sitting gazebo by cat trail pond, good for snack breaks with nice view.
The Preserve normally closes on Monday. We came on Martin Luther’s king holiday which is Monday. Luckily they were doing fundraising on this day so we could visit and paid $10 per car

Nestled in the heart of nature, Cedar Ridge Preserve offers a refreshing escape from the city with its scenic trails, diverse terrain, and tranquil environment. It’s a nice place for anyone seeking a peaceful yet invigorating outdoor experience.
One of the preserve’s most appealing features is its variety of trails, catering to hikers of all age levels. Whether you’re looking for a leisurely stroll or a more demanding climb, there’s a path for you. The trails wind through shaded woodlands and open areas, occasionally rising to vantage points that reward visitors with panoramic views of the surrounding towns—an absolutely breathtaking sight, especially around sunset.
Despite the Texas heat, the interior of the preserve remains surprisingly moderate in temperature, even when it’s over 90 degrees outside. This makes it possible to enjoy a summer hike without the discomfort of extreme heat, thanks in part to the shaded areas and natural canopy of trees.
Adding to its charm, Cedar Ridge Preserve includes a lake that enhances the area’s serenity and provides a peaceful spot to rest and reflect. The trails’ elevation changes—ups and downs that challenge without overwhelming—add just the right amount of difficulty to keep hikers engaged.
Overall, Cedar Ridge Preserve is a must-visit destination for nature lovers, fitness enthusiasts, and anyone looking to reconnect with the outdoors in a beautiful, well-maintained setting.
