We had a great time walking our dog here. There were nice shaded areas. There were areas to picnic. You could cross the river with your pets. When we were there the bathrooms were locked. It was during the day so I don't know if they just don't have facilities right now. The parking was quite full.

Cherokee Park has always called me. Big rock is where you can get into the water to cool down after hiking on the walking trails, or just doing laps on the side of the road. There are people everywhere, but it's still so peaceful.

Cherokee Park at Big Rock, located on 2199 Park Boundary Rd in Louisville, is one of those places where you can easily spend a relaxing day with your family, kids, or even just on your own. The park offers a peaceful environment with the flowing creek running through, and the sound of water makes the whole area feel calm and refreshing. It’s a wonderful spot to bring kids to explore nature, throw rocks in the water, or just splash around in the shallow areas. Families often bring picnic baskets, and there are plenty of picnic tables and shaded areas available, which makes it great for group gatherings. Big Rock is also dog-friendly, and you’ll see many people walking their dogs along the trails. The playgrounds give children another way to enjoy the park if they’re not by the creek. Walking around here feels safe and enjoyable, with wide open areas to relax or play. The only downside is the bathroom situation. Bathrooms are on site, but they are almost always closed. Even when open, they are not well maintained and can be stinky. If you plan to visit, it’s better to be prepared ahead of time. Aside from that, it’s a fantastic local gem.

Great natural beauty, people suck tho. There is always a lot of trash all over the place, and trash over flowing from the cans. Come on people. If you can't clean up after yourself, we all wish you would just stay home. We had a nice quiet swim at 9am.

Very pretty this time of year. We had a picnic by the creek and fall trees on a beautiful fall day. There are a few playground structures there for kids as well as a covered shelter with picnic tables available.
