I arrived an hour before close, so just did the drive instead of any hiking. Stunning views! Stopped at all the lookouts to take in the massive rolling hills. Loved my brief time here! Definitely plan to return for a hike.
It is difficult to find shade when taking a walk on a hot day.It is a natural, untouched trail. Why are you charging parking fees?? There is little parking space and the roads are narrow. There is an urgent need to create a detailed environment so that many people can visit comfortably.
Visited back in January. After some rain the whole area was green and beautiful. Unfortunately the trails were closed so people could only walk the vehicle main road. It was still a great place to gaze and admire. I will definitely be returning to experience the trails.
Get there early to park either inside or on the streets. The road leading to the parking is narrow so drivers will have to let incoming traffic pass and vice versa. Pedestrians walk this road too so be careful. I came for the poppy superbloom, but it was pretty much over except for a few small patches over in the distant hills and I heard further into the trail there was another patch. I think parking was ten bucks. We parked on the street then walked in. Some incline. If you have the California State Park pass, it's free.
All the trails were closed today, probably due to rain a couple of days ago. Lots of bikers, ebikes, walkers, and cars traveling for scenic views. We parked on the street for FREE, but be sure to read street signs for no parking zone.
