I had such a great experience visiting City Island in Daytona. It's truly one of the hidden gems in the area, especially if you're looking for a relaxing day by the water. I went paddle boarding and had an amazing time — the water was calm and the scenery around the island is beautiful. It’s a perfect spot for beginners or anyone just looking to enjoy a peaceful time on the water. One of the best parts about City Island is how convenient and accessible it is. Free parking was a huge plus — no need to worry about meters or parking fees. The park itself is clean and well-kept, with plenty of shaded areas and benches to relax. There are public restrooms close by, which were also clean and easy to access. What really makes this spot stand out is how close it is to everything. After paddle boarding, I was able to walk to several great restaurants nearby. Whether you want a quick bite or a sit-down meal, there are plenty of options just minutes away. City Island feels peaceful and tucked away, even though it's right in the heart of Daytona. It's the perfect combination of nature and convenience. Whether you're paddle boarding, walking, picnicking, or just looking for a quiet spot to unwind, I highly recommend checking it out. I’ll definitely be returning soon!

So much better in the downtown area now. I took my 5 year old grandaughter to the kids fest and it's su h a beautiful area now with the lights and the shops along Beach Street by the Jackie Robinson stadium, the Library. Beautiful shops and delicious eateries and eclectic variety of choices locally. Nice to 2alj on ride bikes, walk dogs, watch the boats on the river and enjoy the artistry and architecture of motifs if the bridges that cross the Halifax to join the Mainland and Beachside business's, and local favorite flavors of an array of interests that focus on a diverse demographic graphics.

I have lived here for for a few years and had not even know this playground was back here. It is nice that you need to go through the Library to get here because it tends to keep the homeless population that continually hangs out in and around the library. Nice place to take the kids while you are at the library but with the surrounding area, I personally not bring my kid here unless we were already going to the library. It is well maintained and most of the park is under a shade.

The main pier was closed while I visited, but overall it was a great area. Well manicured, plenty of free parking, and lots of walking space to enjoy the river views.

This was a very nice park years ago when it was renovated. However years of intentional neglect and lack of maintenance has produced the current sad state of affairs. The war on the homeless has resulted in the casualty of this park and includes the removal of most park amenities. For what purpose or objective?
