Cooper River Dog Park

Just started hiking/walking here twice in the past few months for the first time in a decade and both times the dog park looked clean, well kept, and the dogs and owners seemed friendly and safe. Plenty of parking in the lot next door, and if your pup needs lots of exercise, the park and trails along Cooper River offer you miles of grounds for them to keep trim and enjoy time together in nature.

It was our first time at a dog park. Sam, my little buddy, came from a rescue down in Florida. He is 8 years old and his first 5 ½ years were with a very abusive 'owner' and 2 ½ years at the rescue. He's very shy and easily anxious. I'm trying to get him used to other people and other dogs. Everyone, the people and dogs, that we met at the dog park were very friendly, kind, and patient with Sam. And the dog park itself was very clean and well kept!

I love how Cooper River Dog Park has the agility area, along with good sized tins for large and small dogs. My pup loves it! Also, they have a pet friendly water fountain right outside the gates.

Great dog park, but two issues: 1. There's a door separating both big and small dog areas that doesn't fully lock or people go on and out that create tricky situations. 2. There's people here who flat out don't follow the small dog/big dog areas, it's more of a free for all. This can create some unsafe situations.

Beautiful anchor location from which to begin exploration or the entire park (which is of substantial size). It’s breadth spans 345+ acres - from Pennsauken to Haddonfield! Plenty to do and see! The biodiversity is especially remarkable.
