This had got to be one of the best parts to the city of Oak Park, MI! There is a little bit of everything to offer at this large, well maintained park. The city does a great job at keeping this a very family-oriented place to gather, especially through the more active summer months. During the summertime you can expect to see large groups of families at one of the 3 shelters located on the premises, having parties and other celebrations. There are many scattered picnic tables and benches throughout. The park has a bit of a wooded area that has a few winding trails through it, that you could easily spend a good hour or so walking around and exploring. I could personally spend many hours here, exploring, as I already have clocked a tremendous amount at this park. There is a large hill on the Church St side, which at it's peak is likely 40ft tall. It's a nice sized hill for sledding in the winter time, especially for the kids. Speaking of kids, there is the legendary Oak Park train that has been here in the heart of this neighborhood for decades upon decades. Kids can climb on and play in/on this large locomotive while parents relax on nearby park benches. There's area for baseball, basketball, tennis, and plenty of walking to be had here. Overall a beautiful park and always a good time when you go.

Shepherd is nice, clean and well maintained. There are clean accessible restrooms. Almongst the reserved sheds, there is plenty of open space to BBQ, play games and etc.

HUGE park with several play structures in addition to the stationary trains to climb on! Trail goes around to the different structures and the bathrooms were open when we went about a month ago. Excellent place! There was a broken slide when we went (access was blocked at the top - good job) and I thought the steps on the toddler play set were too slippery/ dirty for the kinds of kids who would be climbing them essentially on hands and knees to use. But we loved it overall and will definitely be back!

[please "like"if this is helpful] I've been visiting this park occasionally for 50 years, and it currently looks better than ever. I was surprised to see the level of care. Great place to run, walk, play, sled, etc. All the classic iconic play structures are there: the train, truck, tractor tires, monkey bars, the hill! No charge for parking. Wonderful!

Love this park it’s extremely safe and well maintained. A lot of kid play areas spread around the property for you to enjoy. Beautiful views and friendly neighborhood and our dogs love it here as well.
