Cannot speak highly enough of this spot. A great place to cool off and escape the Texas heat. Parking at Zilker is free on weekdays unless it is a holiday or maybe a special event. Don't get got, hit this free spot! Usually busy with plenty of dogs, off-leash, enjoying the water along with their respective owners and others enjoying the cool water. Bring a hammock, some food and drinks and take a dip.

Loved swimming here! The water is crystal clear and there’s many fish and turtles.

So this area is on the other side of the chain link fence from the Barton Springs Pool. Which the pool is nice and has a huge lush green shaded Hill to Lounge on. But that's all it is just a pool. Plus you have to pay. So if you come over to this area on the other side of the fence it's totally free and there are tons of snack and popsicle vendors! You can bring your dogs you can barbecue. They have really cheap kayak and paddle board rental right next to the water. You can play music and there's still places to lay out in lounge around at. Plus this area is wasted deep and so hanging out in the water is the perfect spot! Plus you see a lot of the local Barton Springs salamanders which are totally cool. I'm lucky I get to go back this weekend! I've been waiting for this Texas heat to set in. Because the water here is pretty darn cold even in the hottest days of summer.

Not a dog park and I wish people would stop referring to it as such. Water used to be clean and very nice for free swimming but people bring their dogs off leash and don't clean up after them. Zilker has an official dog park nearby, wish people would use that instead.
