First Ward Park is a strong “positional” play in Uptown—quiet enough to breathe, but central enough that the city stays within reach. ♟️🌳 The park gives you multiple ways to win the afternoon: open lawn for picnics, walking paths for an easy lap, and an interactive fountain/splash area that turns hot Charlotte days into something fun instead of exhausting. 💦🧺 I also love that it’s built for all ages—playground energy for kids, fitness equipment for adults, and plenty of spots to sit and people-watch without feeling rushed. 🛝🏙️ Best move: pair it with a quick stop nearby (ImaginOn/7th Street area), then come back at golden hour when the skyline views feel like a clean endgame. ✨📸

We had sure a fun time here while killing time before a wedding. All our kids loved it and there was a Race going on for St Jude and the Panthers band was at the finish line! Very nice area with workout equipment built into the park for those trying to get fresh air and a workout in!

A lot of cool stuff going on here, Jungle gyms and static structures for kids, a concrete area with lots of interesting obstacles for skaters, and a beautiful view of uptown. I like to use it for fashion and cosplay shoots, though with a good eye the open fields of grass could make for a good engagement or family session.

First Ward Park is a peaceful and beautifully maintained green space right in the heart of Uptown Charlotte. It’s the perfect spot to take a break from the city buzz, whether you're on a walk, having a picnic, or just enjoying the sunshine. The fountains, modern landscaping, and wide open lawns give it a refreshing, urban feel. There’s plenty of seating, and it's close to great restaurants, museums, and public transit. Always clean and well-lit, it’s a safe and welcoming place for families, couples, or solo visitors. A must-visit if you're exploring Uptown!

On 2/14/2026, the Hot Chocolate Marathon race was ran. Nice run. Nice Park.
