When visiting Santa Fe, I was slightly worried about how I could do something special for my dog, Izzy. Frank S Ortiz dog park was only a short walk away from where we were staying and wow it is so worth it! Izzy loved and adored the new smells and friends she made at the dog park. She was knocked out for about 4 hours afterwards. I loved the stunning views of the mountain ranges and the fresh air. It's such a lovely park, and Izzy gives it 4 out of 4 paws.

Massive dog park with many trials spidered throughout the desert landscape. Playground for kiddos near the parking lot. Coming from the east there was not a patch of green grass anywhere in the park. Poop bags and trash cans near the parking lots. Does not appear to have running water, however someone brought a massive water jug to fill bowls. We noticed almost every person let their dog roam unleashed. Everyone was friendly and made for a great day. There are small 2 fenced areas to unleash your dog if your pup is a wanderer. The rest of the 138 acres is open space to walk your dog. Like others mentioned, there is broken glass scattered on the northern side of the park. I was surprised how clean the place was given the amount of dogs. People didn't great job picking up poop.

Frank Ortiz Park is a fantastic off-leash area that spans 138 acres, featuring beautiful arroyos, hills, and miles of trails with breathtaking views of Santa Fe. It serves as an excellent escape within the neighborhood, offering plenty of space for dogs to play and explore. To ensure safety for our pets, I recommend keeping dogs within the designated areas, especially considering the park's proximity to the highway and residential zones. I take my dog to the park almost every Monday morning. It provides a perfect outlet for my dog's energy and serves as a refreshing break for me when I'm not up for longer hikes around Santa Fe. One observation I’ve made is the diversity in attitudes among fellow dog owners. While many dogs enjoy socializing, some owners tend to be a bit reserved or unfriendly. It would be wonderful to see more openness and camaraderie among dog owners, as a welcoming attitude can greatly enhance everyone's experience at the park. Despite these frequent interactions, the park's natural beauty always shines through, making each visit enjoyable. With numerous trails and seating areas available, there are endless adventures to embark on along the paths, and it's common for people to bring their own seats for added comfort. Overall, Frank Ortiz Park is a lovely place to connect with nature and enjoy quality time with our furry friends, even if there’s room for improvement in the human interactions!

Largest dog park in US. So many trails and terrain of different types, at least 2 different parking areas, poop bags, trash, shade, benches, etc.

We were thrilled to discover this place. Wonderfully maintained. Ample parking. Other dogs and owners friendly. We enjoyed our time here. The view was an added bonus.
