Garret Mountain Reservation

12 Oct 2025 - It was good 👍 I really liked the scenic view from the mountain 🏔️ top (not very tall) , lovely lake and the house 🏡 in Front of lake. It had nice clean washrooms as well. Lot of walking trails and free parking 🅿️ spaces. We went to see fall 🍂 🍁 colors and it is coming up nicely 😀. Close to city area such places are wonderful 👍 weekend escape. People were also doing fishing 🎣 in the lake. See pics and videos for more details. It has picnic 🧺 tables and barbecue grills. Thanks 👍😊

I visited Garret Mountain last week, and it’s a wonderful outdoor spot for anyone living near New York City. It’s only about 1.5 hours by car from NYC, making it a convenient nature escape without driving too far. The trails are steady and not too difficult, perfect for casual hikers and families. Along the way, you can enjoy beautiful views of the surrounding landscape, especially at the scenic overlooks. We even saw some wildlife during the hike, which made the experience more exciting and peaceful. Parking is easy and convenient, much better than many busier parks around the city. You can start the trails without any stress and take your time exploring. Overall, Garret Mountain Reservation is a great place to relax, enjoy fresh air, see nature, and take pictures. Highly recommended for a simple day trip away from the city!

Garrett Mountain Reservation was absolutely amazing! I couldn't believe this place existed in Patterson! The raw beauty of this park is breathtaking! If you get a chance to visit, its a must!

I couldn’t get enough of the view here—it’s absolutely breathtaking. I came a little unprepared and didn’t have the right equipment to capture it, but honestly, nothing can really do it justice. The place has such a friendly, welcoming energy, with hobbyists, tourists, and locals all enjoying the same stunning scenery. The colors are incredible, the sounds of the surroundings are calming, and the whole spot feels peaceful and almost magical. I left inspired and already planning my next visit, this time fully ready to soak it all in and maybe even capture a few photos. It’s one of those experiences that makes you pause, relax, and appreciate the beauty around you.

I’ve been coming to Garret Mountain for almost 10 years now. From family functions to workouts, birthday parties to peaceful hikes—this park has seen it all. I’ve hosted an event here (super easy to reserve through Passaic County), brought my kids to run around, and even came alone just to watch the sun rise or set. The views are beautiful, the trails are calming, and it’s one of my favorite spots in the area. There are a lot of parks in Passaic County, but this one is convenient, family-friendly, and always feels like home.
