Once an industrial wasteland along the Maumee River, Glass City Metropark in Toledo, Ohio, represents one of the most ambitious urban renewals in the Great Lakes region. Historically, this site was dominated by heavy industry and docking facilities that cut the community off from the waterfront. Today, it has been transformed into an award-winning green space that anchors the city’s "Riverwalk" initiative, symbolizing Toledo's evolution from its glass-manufacturing roots to a leader in sustainable urban design. The natural beauty of the park is a harmonious blend of restored wetlands and native prairies. Visitors are treated to panoramic views of the Toledo skyline, framed by thousands of newly planted trees and lush meadows that provide a critical habitat for migratory birds. The Ribbon, a unique 1,000-foot ice-skating trail that meanders through the landscape, offers a rare way to experience nature even in the depths of winter. On a human level, Glass City Metropark feels like a vibrant communal living room. It bridges the gap between the city’s grit and its grace, offering a sense of pride and reconnection. It is a place where the rhythmic flow of the river meets the energy of the people, proving that even the most scarred industrial landscapes can be reborn as sanctuaries of joy and environmental healing.

Beautiful location, fun family times. Great park for picnics in summer. Winter they have ice skating, however when you skate they charge you incorrectly! Watch out it cost me 32.00 for 1 senior (8.00) and 2 kids (8.00). They were very inconsiderate when you had to help children on the ice when you’re all by yourself. I had to leave those children on the ice while I had to go get my skates on

Absolutely beautiful park! Highly recommend anyone, especially with kids visit. Beautiful scenery right on the river. Meticulously maintained park. As soon as you cross the massive bridge, take exit 9 for Front St. You will be happy did!

Wow wow wow. What an incredible park along the river in Toledo! The building that houses the ice rink rentals has a wonderful restaurant where we had a braised lamb pizza. The ice ribbon wasn't operating yet, but it looks like lots of fun. The paths throughout the hills and meadows along the river are clean and peaceful.

A great spot to enjoy the outdoors in Toledo, Ohio. Situated along the river with views of bridges on both sides of the park. There are multiple playgrounds, lots of parking, a building with roof top patio, washrooms and a fun little pier with bridges and suspension nets.
