Golden Gate Canyon State Park is absolutely beautiful, especially in the fall when the aspens are changing colors and the whole park glows gold. It’s one of the best places in Colorado to soak in those classic autumn mountain views without having to drive too far into the high country. The park is amazing for hiking and mountain biking, with tons of single track trails that wind through forests, meadows, and rocky overlooks. The terrain is fun, varied, and perfect for anyone who loves being out on the trails. Located in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains, it’s super convenient just a short drive from both Boulder and Denver. It’s a great getaway that feels remote and peaceful, yet still close to everything. Beautiful scenery, great trails, and that perfect Colorado vibe. Highly recommend!

Located about 45 minutes from downtown Denver, Golden Gate Canyon State Park is such a great place to hike, fish, and is a easy getaway from the city. Numerous trails, plenty of parking spots available as well as bathrooms. Every time I go to the park I discover something new. Visitor center also has a really cool trout pond outside, with so many of the swimming around that you can also feed with food from the vending machine. One of my favorite places outside of Denver to get outdoors!

I rented a Yurt again this winter! It was perfect temperature inside when the outside was below freezing! The paths and roadways are always clear of snow, and the heated restrooms are a treat after walking over in the cold to them! Met Mike, a very friendly and knowledgeable park manager. I would recommend Golden Gate Canyon State Park to all my friends. They also have great cabins for rent!

Oh Christmas tree! Thank you State Park for this fun live tree lottery once a year. Only 200 people get the opportunity to spend in Golden Gate Canyon. This was our second time selected in 10 years for this park and its our favorite. You even get to meet Santa and Mrs Clause if you like. It's only about 40 minutes from Denver without heavy traffic or weather. A lot of turns up the mountain so if you get car sick easily, you were warned. This park has friendly rangers that will give you advise where you can hike, play or camp at the really cool ranger station. Check that one out. Don't forget to stamp your state park book. In order to cut a tree, it can ONLY be done with a permit and on the day, time, and location assigned by the state park. This is not a year round event. One can only do this with hand saw and state officials near by. (And only if you are a granted a lottery ticket/permit for that day.)

My wife and I had a wonderful Christmas Morning hike on Racoon Trail. Got a little busy around noon, but not crowded at all in the morning. Trail was well maintained. Some fallen trees across the trail, but nothing that wasn't easily passed. Got some great pictures and had a wonderful time with my wife.
