It was a very nice park and very easy to find. I met a homeless person there that really enlightened me about what is like to be homeless. She was very knowledgeable about how homeless people are treated in Cedar Rapids. She wasn't asking for money or a handout. She was just trying to get through the day and keep warm.
Beautiful park by the library and art museum that they unfortunately let homeless people and drug addicts loiter in all day every day. I don't feel safe bringing my family here.
Set a world record there it was an awesome experience!
It's crazy how much has changed. I went to the original Washington High School that sat right where the library is now between 1871 - 1875, it was demolished in 1935, but some nights I still saunter down to the old George Greene park and interact with the living folks who play games on their phones or are looking for a meal and place to sleep.
Nice green space with a water feature that kids cannot play in. Near library and the art museum. Food truck Fridays. A fair amount of homeless people though.
