I wanted to take my dog to a new park, pulled up to this one, got out of the car, got my dog out of the car & was immediately met by a strange man (the owner) asking me if it was my first time here. No hello, no hi, just “this must be your first time here.” He explained the process of bringing a dog to his bar/dog park & said “I sell beer & wine, you probably just thought it was a place to walk your dog didn’t you?” I said yes & left. He was very deterring. I knew it was a dog park bar, but the vibes were off as soon as I got out of my car. (I am a black woman.) I did plan on getting a drink and letting my dog play, but the vibes were very “you’re not welcomed here.” I’d rather spend my money at a welcoming dog park.
It's an awesome place to grab a cold drink and let your dog run. I was there on a Sunday afternoon, and there was a nice mix of people and dogs. I appreciated that there was an attendant paying close attention to deter any doggy scuffles that might happen.
I can’t say enough good things about ‘Hair of the Dog.’ It’s first a foremost a dog park, but it also happens to serve great local beer, wine, seltzer and champagne. The owner, Todd, is kind and easy to deal with. The people who visit are local regulars who often end up becoming good friends. I know there are always mixed reviews about bringing dogs to dog parks, but this is the kind where you and your pets can feel safe and welcome. I wish every city had a place like this to bring their pups.
This place rules! It's our normal dog park and we go every day they are open. All the dogs know each other (although new pups are always appreciated by the pack!), and the owners are all cool. We look out for each other's dogs and it works out great. The amazing owner, Todd, also does a great job refereeing as needed. I always feel my pups are safe. Oh yeah, and they have beer! Come hang out with the pack!
My dogs and I love Hair of the Dog! My German shepherd loves watching the little dogs play on the small dog side of the park, and my hound likes judging people. The bartenders are friendly, I’ve made friends with all the regulars, and we come at least 3 times a week. Highly recommend!
