Nice sized park with 2 critiques. The rocky sewage area not the best as it gets muddy and dogs might want to drink that water and mine decided to play get muddy in it. What you gonna do a dogs gonna dog lol. Secondly, the dog poop in this park is everywhere. It’s sad because there is a dog bag station and any responsible dog owner should pick up their dogs poop. My boyfriend did like multiple pickups in order to keep the area clean. My dog had fun with the other dogs at the dog park regardless but cleanliness is not there. Bee cave park we usually take him and get sometimes you’ll find a poop here or there but yeah this place has land mines spanning the entire parameter. We made about 15 -20 trips picking up other dogs poop that were left in the park and there’s still more.

Great dogs, accompanied by great folks. Wonderful place for canine and human social relaxing. So much sprawling play space right in the middle of town is a really rare treat. Plenty of parking! No fast traffic, or noise pollution from nearby interstate, which is nearly completely muffled out from surrounding trees and buildings. There’s community supplied water available in bowls around the picnic style tables, where there’s always plenty of conversation and WOOFS going on.
Hancock Dog Park is the jewel of the neighborhood, and where most of us neighbors and our canine companions first meet when arriving to the area. It’s a super short distance to hike, bike, or drive from Hyde Park, Mueller District, Hancock Center, Cherrywood neighborhood, Capital Plaza, and UT Campus. The original Tomlinson’s Pet Supplies is right around the corner, providing the best food, treats, toys, and grooming gear to Austin dogs since 1946.
Hancock Dog Park is smack dab in the middle of everything, and a perfect example of why Austin still holds the gold and reigning spot in all the polls, as the #1 rated Dog-Friendly city in America, and why Lefty and I proudly call it home...WOOF, y’all!🤘🏼

Not a good park for reactive or super small dogs (might fit through the fence), but has some stuff going for it. If your dog loves mud then this is their paradise. Would be 10x better with a wash station and water.
