Really clean park, seemed safe and well maintained. Saw some monarch butterflies 🦋🌞 The walking path is made from a rubbery material instead of concrete or asphalt. The ground surface of the playground and fitness areas are also rubbery.

Four pickleball courts, playground, rubber running track, large field. The courts are typically busy on weekends but everyone is really friendly. 2 - 4.0 DUPR level play most days.

I grew up across the street from Hollenbeck Park. I've seen this park renovated a few times. The newest renovation is nice. My kids like it. I really love that they have put in a lot of beneficial native plants. There are areas of the grass that get marsh like. Tread carefully, its nasty muddy in mid-summer. They, like many other parks didn't care to put in any shade sails over the playground area, and removed 2 of the shadiest trees. Where shade can be found now, is in an area where the irrigation system is possibly leaking or something. The ground is sopping wet, super squishy, and muddy. I'd love to give my childhood park a 5 star rating, but after all that renovation, they didn't even budget in the restrooms. The bathrooms are so gross. They are practically falling apart. The city spent all that money to renovate and didn't care to address the bathrooms. They've been like this for years! This is ridiculous. Who was in charge of this budget? 🙄

Have not seen this park in over 40 years. I use to bring my baby sister here back in the 70s. A bit updated but mostly the same. Thanks for a great trip down memory lane!
