A peaceful patch of the galaxy right here on Earth. Howell Wetlands is one of those quiet, scenic spots where the Force flows a little stronger with every step along the boardwalk. The fall colors were glowing like freshly ignited sabers, reflecting beautifully across the still water. The raised walkways make it easy to explore without disturbing the wildlife, and there are plenty of spots to pause, breathe, and take in the view. The boardwalk loops through open water, forest pockets, and reed-lined edges that catch the light just right. Some sections show their age, but everything felt safe and stable. If you enjoy photography, this place is a gold mine—mirror-calm reflections, bright autumn color, and peaceful trails that stay quiet even on a nice afternoon. Just remember the rules posted at the entrances—stay on the boardwalks, no pets, no swimming (unless you want to become one with the swamp), and be out before closing time unless you’re aiming for a conversation with security instead of nature. A beautiful, relaxing spot for a quick walk, nature photos, or simply recharging your inner Jedi. A must-visit if you’re in the area.

Howell Wetlands is one of those special places that feels like a peaceful escape right in the middle of the city. I’ve visited at different times of the day, but sunset is absolutely magical here. The golden light filters through the trees, reflects off the water, and brings the whole place to life. It's like stepping into a living painting. The trails wind through a variety of habitats, including marshes, woodlands, and open fields. Each one is filled with native plants and wildlife. One of my favorite things is that it’s dog friendly! 🐶 I bring my pup along every time, and she loves the variety of smells and sights. The trails are well-maintained but still feel wild and natural. Howell Wetlands is beautiful and serene. Highly recommend catching golden hour here.

Walking paths are boardwalk for the most part that wind through the wetlands, no maps so it’s up to you how far you want to venture on the trails. Beautiful views and surprisingly peaceful.

Our family loves Howell wetlands. I sometimes have a hard time with uneven terrain but the boardwalks are easy to traverse and there are benches on occasion to rest. There is a bit of a walk down a path before you get to the boardwalk but it's not terribly difficult. We've enjoyed seeing all the beautiful wildflowers and butterflies in addition to the turtles. One visit we got to observe an area where beavers had been at work 💜
