Amazing park to let the dogs run and play in . Not a ton of shade ,but some. Has grass . No water source there so bring your own water .

Well grassed, large dog park -- although it's difficult to determine what is dog park and what is not. Coming through the first gate IMPLIES that the section beyond is off-leash, and the separately fenced human child playground does support that -- but then you get to the official double gates sections... All sections have woods and trails as well as grassy areas. No small dog only section here, though. Bags and trash are provided, but no water anywhere on site.

Impressed! I have been checking out as many places as I can since I just moved to Massachusetts. This has to be the nicest fully fenced in dog park that I’ve seen so far. Pro: clean, fully fenced, taken care of, many dogs Con: I definitely got lost trying to find the dog park because the GPS took me to a dead end street so just keep that in mind if you’re coming here with a GPS location. There’s actual parking right next to the dog park so look for that entrance instead of the other entrance.

The public park has an admission fee from the City of Newton ( 2024) to use this off leash park area. It costs $70-$75 a year for Newton residents and $100.00 for non Newton residents. Yes it is a public park that Newton is treating as a private pay to play park. The location of the playground is off of Grasmere St. It has a small fenced in play ground. The Off leash park is near Brighton New Balance store. The park is on-leash for the park with playground. There are two fenced in areas for off leash near 188 Newton Street Brighton apartments. It can be a nice space but very muddy. The Newton urban ranger regularly enforces and cites people who don’t buy a medallion from the PRC Newton commissioner to allow their dogs to use the off leash park.

A pretty setting which is easy to find although parking seemed limited. We arrived early in the morning so parking was easy. The off leash area is actually a small wood-barked enclosure however before 9am the dogs were using the larger grassed area. This is a fully fenced area and in great condition. The ranger arrived promptly at 9am so the few people there leashed up their dogs and left. Apparently the ranger checks if you are a local resident or not. It wasn’t crowded and the people there were friendly. Poop bags are available at the entry.
