This must be Lake County’s best dog park. There is a nice mostly shaded trail that goes around a lake, and a few side trails that can be a bit muddy during springtime. There are a couple of benches throughout the main trail. My dog is not crazy about water, but he sure enjoys to cool off near the lake. He also loves running up and down the trails and that brings me home one exhausted pup! If you’re coming from the city, it’s worth the drive! Parking is quite expensive, but also worth it (I might go for the annual membership!) Poop bags are available only near the entrance and exit gates. Other dogs and their owners are friendly here!

I thought Lakewood was most likely the best dog park in Lake County but this is hands down my new favorite. Came on a hot day and was very thankful for shade and plenty of different water access points. The main trail is nice and wide but plenty of smaller trails to wander too. Was surprised how not crowded it was at 8 am on a Saturday but I imagine the parking lot fills fast. Bathrooms are available too. The annual pass is totally worth it. Highly recommend!

Great dog park with beautiful, natural and fun grounds that form part of Independence Grove. I was amazed at how clean the entire place is, didn't even encounter dog "gifts" at any place I walked by. Incredible place for both humans & dogs... Friendly people throughout the park with well trained dogs. Loves it!!! 👍🏼👍🏼

Great place for a hike with your dog! Pit toilets though, so hold onto your phones! And don't trust a leash to keep you from falling in face first! 🤣 Only real issue is if your dog doesn't have good recall, they can easily escape into the greater Independence Grove Park. Every once and a while you hear about a dog that gets away.

Despite not being a resident, I just got an annual membership for the Lake County off-leash areas and it’s totally worth the price. My dogs love water and trails, and this place has plenty of easy access to both! I love being able to walk loops around the lake on the main trail and adventure on the off-shoots. We’ve now come here and Prairie Wolf, and they’re both well worth the drive from Chicago and the cost, even if you just pay the daily rate. Can’t wait to check out the rest of the parks!
