We reserved a shelter for Saturday evening to host my dad's memorial/celebration of life. It was absolutely perfect! Our shelter was away from any crowds that may accumulate at the park and other shelters as we had told them our guests were coming for a memorial so they intentionally gave us the most private shelter available. We could still see the park of course it wasn't anything super private but that worked out nicely because we could still keep an eye on our younger attending guests. There were more than enough picnic tables available under the shelter so we were able to utilize one specifically to lay out pictures and memorabilia items along with the things we wanted guests to take with them. There was a huge grill making serving food super easy, and it also gave the camp fire feel and warmth needed to circle around and share memories of my Dad. Afterwards we had walked out to the field for our last activity before heading home for the night. There was a full moon on this particular night and it all just fell together so perfectly and was absolutely beautiful. I know it was something my dad would have loved and I know he was watching over with love! Thank you so much Indian Riffle Park for providing the perfect location for our family and friends to give my Dad a proper and beautiful celebration! I know all the park provided was the spot but without that it wouldn't have gone nearly as smooth so it means so much! Hopefully its no time soon but anytime I find myself in the need to host another memorial I know where ill have it, along with any other gatherings that a park would be suitable for. Couldn't have asked for a better night!

Indian Riffle Park is one of Kettering's great parks. It is huge (@94.2 acres!) and has many amenities. The park has multiple baseball fields, basketball courts, a great disc golf course, a stocked fishing pond that you do not need a license to fish at, soccer and football fields, and several picnic shelters with grills, restrooms, and water fountains. It also has a large skateboard park within and a great big sledding hill. Indian Riffle Park also contains the Kettering Recreation Complex and the Rosewood Art Center. There seems to be something for everyone @ Indian Riffle. My son played baseball at the well-groomed fields and afterwards we spent some time at the playground with some friends. The kids (and adults) both had a great time. I love the old Wizard of Oz-themed swing set. I hope someday it's fully restored and not dismantled when the park is eventually updated. There is plenty of parking in multiple parking lots. Kettering also uses this park as a place to distribute compost and mulch from their yard waste and leaf collection program for free to Kettering residents. What a treasure for the city of Kettering! While there, had a parent talk to me about How it is sometimes hard to use the picnic area sat most playgrounds due to her childrens’ multiple allergies. I added a picture of a sign from another park in a different state that would be a great addition for Kettering to add to all of their parks.

Went for a birthday party. The grounds were clean. The pavilion was a nice size and the picnic tables were clean. There were people playing Frisbee golf nearby. The kids were playing at the park. The park had a great bridge that allows for access to all areas. Great parking. A nice place to spend some time.

Love this park, I go to it almost every day listening to my music! Theres always so much life at this place, kids running around, people walking, animals grazing, it's awesome Update: there's new play equipment in the playground area.

We had our Van Leeuwen Family Picnic there, it was great. Children's playground was a big hit. Shelter house accommodated all and the grills are huge. Had to walk a little bit but the exercise was worth it.
