A nice park in Springfield. It does have river access. There is a building with restrooms in it... having the doors unlocked to the bathrooms in the morning when the park opens... they e still locked at 930 a.m. There is a lot of green space which is awesome to have amongst the city and neighborhood it is in. The grounds were in good shape and the landscaping and plants were in beautiful condition. Great for picnics and a nice place for a walk with the dog. There is also a covered pavilion area with lots of surrounding green space and close to the river perfect for group functions for a small fee. The view and location under the bridge is a unique claim for this park. There is more than enough parking provided in a couple different parking lots. For families: There are some people around that could be presumed to be homeless... they weren't causing any problems... and do have just as much of a right to sit on a park bench as anyone else does really... I saw no evidence of any drug activity by anyone in the parking lot or in the park. There is a nice playground with lots of things for the kids to play on. The place does also have 2 different boat ramps. Overall a great park and a nice way to start your day, unwind at the end of a day or to just hang out.

Came by less than a day after a flood warning. The paths? Clear and charming. The riverbank? Less charming — looks like the flood threw a party and forgot to clean up. Still a great place to walk, just watch your step (and maybe bring a trash bag). Edit- they cleaned up the path and added gravel! TYSM

Island Park is located in downtown Springfield, accessible via C or D Streets, offering a respite in the center of town. It's next to the river, has wide paved path, short dirt birding trail, a couple of parking lots, 2 boat landings, playground for kids, bathrooms, benches, picnic tables, mural painted on the bridge legs. You can hear the traffic over Main St. bridge. When I went in May, the river was overflowing & 1 of parking lots & bird trail were flooded. It's dry now. Saw a couple of fishermen in the water. Pros: close to Willamette river & downtown, bathrooms, parking, birds. Cons: no long walking trail, near traffic.

I brought my kids here today, they had alot of fun exploring, this seems to be a very well maintained park. The park has two parking lots, walking paths, a creek, restrooms and with the Willamette River right along the park. This is also a great park to have a picnic at, has great tree cover.
