None of this was here when I was a boy. We played here in what was a pasture mixed with wood thickets. There was a massive live oak, hundreds of years old; it had grown from the ground and divided just a few feet above the soil and the two trunks, each four feet or so in diameter splayed out away from each other symmetrically, like the hull of a ship. The canopy above was full of vines and we could swing across the whole like pirates. It is gone now and the county has turned the area into this pretty park. I return and walk with my mother on visits back to Tallahassee.
Great County park with limited but quality views to lake via boardwalk. Nice gentle trails, some with oak canopies. Nicely equipped children's park.
Nice park. It's not huge, but it's pretty. Popular place for dog walkers. My dogs were a fan of all the smells and the overlook to Lake Jackson.
