Nice quiet place to enjoy the view of Springfield. There is a plaque to its dedication on the 100 year anniversary of the towns founding no restrooms or play areas.

To be frank, I don’t think this is a place worth seeking out intentionally. It felt like going out of my way to watch smoke rising from an industrial facility’s chimney. If you happen to be in the area, you might pass through the residential neighborhoods to get here, but there isn’t much of a breathtaking view to reward the effort. The only viewing spot is a deck by the parking lot, and there are no facilities where you can sit and leisurely enjoy the scenery—just something to keep in mind.

Vistas of Springfield in three directions and relative solitude are the reasons to go here. I was overwhelmed by the amount of human development in every direction so I won’t return. At the same time, seeing the density is a reason to go. Get. to the top of this butte on neighborhood streets. The only amenities are a couple of benches. Parking for maybe 8 cars.

Beautiful overlook at the top of the butte. You can see downtown Springfield on one side and downtown Eugene on the other. Limited parking in parking lot and gated, dawn to dusk hours.
