Lake Chabot Regional Park is an absolutely beautiful place and easily one of the most peaceful outdoor spaces in the area. From the moment you arrive, it feels like a true escape from the city--quiet, expansive, and surrounded by nature. The scenery alone is worth the visit. The lake is stunning, especially when the light hits the water, and the surrounding hills and greenery make it feel immersive and calming. It's the kind of place that instantly slows you down and helps you breathe a little deeper. One of the biggest highlights is the sheer number of trails available. There are so many options, whether you're looking for a casual walk, a longer hike, or something more challenging. The trails are well maintained and offer a great mix of lake views, wooded areas, and open stretches. It's also a great park because it works for so many different types of outings. You'll see hikers, runners, cyclists, families, and people just enjoying time outdoors. There's plenty of space, so it never feels overcrowded, even when it's busy. Lake Chabot Regional Park is a true gem. The natural beauty, variety of trails, and peaceful atmosphere make it a place you'll want to return to again and again. Whether you're local or just visiting, it's absolutely worth spending time here.

Nestled in the heart of the Bay Area, this serene and awe-inspiring regional park offers a vast expanse of trails and a rich tapestry of history. A must-visit destination for nature enthusiasts, hikers, and history buffs, this park boasts a magnificent lake encircled by majestic mountains, providing breathtaking views of the bay in the distance. The lake itself is a haven for water activities, including kayaking, water peddling, and boating. We embarked on a challenging yet rewarding 10-mile hike around the lake, which took us approximately four hours to complete. Despite its length, the trail was not only physically demanding but also incredibly picturesque, offering a feast for the eyes throughout the journey.

Great hike for a sunny day. I have gone multiple times and always feel refreshed afterwards. I’d recommend parking on the main road to avoid paying for the parking fee. Just don’t keep any valuables in your car. Enjoy!

November 2025 We hiked 9.5 miles on the trail. The views of the lake were gorgeous! There are plenty of restrooms along the trail. We went on a Saturday, and it was quite crowded. Parking costs $5, and it was difficult to find a spot around 11 a.m.

We did the Bass cove and goldenrod trail and it was pretty beautiful. The first half goes through the forest where you can see the golf course and the latter half is views of the lake
