Lake Ella Park is one of those places that I end up coming back to even with its quirks. It’s a really peaceful spot, especially on a nice day, and the loop around the lake makes for an easy, relaxing walk. You can go all the way around in about 15–20 minutes, but most people seem to take their time, stop to enjoy the water, or just sit on a bench for a bit. There are always tons of ducks and geese out sometimes a little too many so be prepared to dodge some bird poop along the sidewalk. It’s definitely part of the “Lake Ella experience,” but the view and vibe still make it worthwhile. The park has plenty of shaded areas and big trees, which makes it a great place to chill, read, or have a simple picnic. The picnic tables aren’t new or anything, but they get the job done, and the gazebo adds a nice touch. You’ll see people feeding ducks, families walking around, and others just hanging out by the water. It’s a very mixed crowd in general, including some homeless individuals who spend time here. They mostly keep to themselves, but if that’s something that makes you uncomfortable, it’s good to know beforehand. The restroom situation is pretty standard for a public park. They’re not the nicest, not the worst usable, usually stocked, but could use a little more frequent cleaning depending on the day. Still, it’s convenient that they have one on-site. Dog-friendly wise, this is a solid spot. Lots of people bring their dogs to walk the loop, and there’s plenty of space and shade. Just watch out for birds and the usual “lake mess” on the ground. Most dog owners I’ve seen are responsible about picking up after their pets, but bringing your own bags is a good idea just in case the dispensers are empty. Overall, Lake Ella is a great local place to unwind. It’s not perfect the geese, the droppings, and the maintenance can be hit or miss but the calm atmosphere, the nice walking path, and the mix of food trucks and nearby shops make it a pretty charming spot. Worth a visit if you’re in the area and want a simple outdoor break.

If you happen to be driving passing through town, stop and visit this park. The was a very beautiful gazebo located in the center of the park surrounded by a serene lake full of ducks and geese.

This is a scenic park with a small loop around the lake. I agree with other reviews regarding bird droppings. There are a ton of ducks and Canadian geese, which i personally don't like. The sidewalks did have a lot of droppings. If you dont mind that, then this park is the place for you. I didn't find it super relaxing, as there were some "sketchy" looking people, so I felt like I needed to really pay attention to my surroundings. The coolest part was that a group of people were playing bagpipes and drums, so that was really awesome. There were a few gorgeous trees around the lake, and there are some cute little shops nearby. The parking area is quite small so you might need to park on the street. It's worth checking out and seeing what you think.

Nice place for taking a walk or relaxing. There’s a swing which is mostly free! You can walk 360 around the lake, have a picnic or just time for yourself. Quiet, less crowded and mostly there is a parking space. There are picnic tables and a sort of mini island although not completely separated. Worth it if you stay near by or wouldn’t mind a drive.

When I first moved to Tallahassee, Lake Ella was a wonderful spot to visit—especially in the evenings—for a relaxing walk and a calming breeze. Unfortunately, over the years, it has become less well-maintained and isn’t as inviting as it once was. It’s still suitable for a short walk, but beyond that, there’s not much to enjoy anymore.
