One of the things I love about San Marcos is all the trails. Lakeview park is a great get away right in the city. The park is small but shady and equipped for children to play. It overlooks Discovery Lake with access to the paved trail around the lake. The trail is just under a mile and has some shade. There are other trails that are not paved too. You can even access trails that lead up to Double Peak Park! I mostly loop the lake with my dog for a different place to walk. U like to go early morning, but that is when you may see more coyotes, so be aware. I bring a hiking stick and tap it and they run off.

Parking can be tricky...but the 8/10ths mile walk around the lake is relaxing. The others walking, riding, and running have been nice as well!!! My husband did the hike up the hill...he said it is not labeled well so he got off the path twice and ended up in the houses...but other than that he loved it!!!

It's a excellent park with very good land scape, slides for young kids, picnic tables, walking/running track, fishing board, hike trail etc. The area is covered with lots of green vegetation & birds.

Wonderful wide, paved path around a beautiful lake with gorgeous scenery. Great for strollers, bikes and scooters. Fun playground for the kids. Picnic tables and bathrooms. Small parking lot but plenty of additional street parking.

Fun easy trail with plenty of folks coming in and out throughout the day so parking does get packed. There's a cool water fountain for the kids. The ducks can get annoying if you're fishing but I've caught a few bass!
