Liberty State Park in New Jersey is one of the most peaceful and scenic places to visit in the New York City area. Located along the Hudson River in Jersey City, the park offers stunning views of the Manhattan skyline, the Statue of Liberty, and Ellis Island. It is a perfect spot if you want to enjoy nature while still being close to the city. The park has large open green spaces, walking and biking paths, and beautiful waterfront views. Many visitors come here to relax, have a picnic, or simply enjoy a quiet walk along the promenade while looking at the skyline across the river. The view of the Statue of Liberty from here is especially impressive and often less crowded than viewing it from Manhattan. One of the most meaningful spots inside the park is the Empty Sky Memorial, which honors the New Jersey residents who lost their lives in the September 11 attacks. The memorial consists of two long walls engraved with the names of the victims and is aligned toward where the World Trade Center once stood. Parking at Liberty State Park is usually easy since there are dedicated parking lots within the park. If you are planning to visit the Statue of Liberty or Ellis Island, ferries also depart from the nearby Liberty State Park ferry terminal. A helpful tip is to visit around sunset because the Manhattan skyline looks incredible as the lights begin to appear across the river. Overall Liberty State Park is a beautiful and relaxing destination that offers some of the best views of New York City without the crowds of Manhattan.

What a great place! Liberty State Park is one of the most beautiful parks in New Jersey! It offers breathtaking views of the Manhattan skyline, the Statue of Liberty, and Ellis Island. The park is very spacious, perfect for walking, jogging, biking, or having a picnic. Our favorite thing to do here is to fly kites as the wind here is great for that. Go New Jersey!

Liberty State Park is truly the perfect place for photos—no matter what time of year. We photographed here in January when it was only 25 degrees, and even with the cold, the scenery delivered beautifully. The open space, skyline views, and the golden light at sunset made it absolutely worth it. If you’re looking for a location that gives you timeless outdoor portraits with a stunning backdrop, Liberty State Park is always a great choice—especially during sunset.

The day we spent at Liberty State Park was truly unforgettable! The park is completely clean, well maintained, and offers activities suitable for all ages. It was such a pleasure to walk along the long paths while enjoying views of the Manhattan skyline and the Statue of Liberty. The peaceful atmosphere at the Empty Sky 9/11 Memorial especially moved us deeply. This park is a wonderful place to escape the city crowds!
