This spot turned out to be a great place for a relaxed family outing. The staff we interacted with were warm and welcoming, which made the day even better. We visited during winter, so the crowds were minimal—definitely a perk—but the scenery was a little muted because of the season. Still, the indoor exhibits more than made up for it. The bird habitat and the African Journey area were both genuinely impressive and kept everyone entertained. And honestly, the fact that the entire experience is free makes it even more worth the trip. I’d happily recommend stopping by any time of year, no matter the season.

Lincoln Park is truly phenomenal and such a gem in Chicago. The free zoo alone makes it a rare and special treat, offering a wide variety of animals to see and enjoy. Beyond the zoo, the park itself is beautifully maintained, with clean paths, lush greenery, and vibrant plants that make every walk a pleasant experience. Stretching along Lake Michigan on the North Side of the city, it offers both natural beauty and easy access to urban attractions.
The pond is especially stunning, filled with koi, turtles, and geese, and it provides a peaceful space to pause and take in the surroundings. What makes the experience even more unique is the incredible city skyline that serves as the backdrop, blending nature and architecture in such a striking way. There are plenty of benches throughout the park, perfect for relaxing, people-watching, or simply enjoying the view. Whether you’re walking the trails, exploring the zoo, or just soaking up the atmosphere, Lincoln Park is one of the most beautiful and inviting parks you’ll ever visit.

This park is great because it's near the beach connected by a bridge that spans across the freeway which I went across from the beach side.
There is a farmers market on Wednesday morning with many local vendors selling various of fresh produce and bakeries.
A lot of people finish running in the morning and shops at the farmers markets. It's clean and people are nice. There are a lot of greenery.
That's good for the morning walk or jogging because you're not even in the weekday. You can see a lot of people running. I walked there 7:30 and it's amazing to see the sun rise on the beach and then comes to the farmers market to enjoy some local gems.

Quiet place with great views, if you're a runner that's your place, or just for walking.

SELF-ENTITLED DOG OWNERS WALL OF SHAME.
Beautiful Park, But Please Follow Leash Laws
This park is truly a gem and a fantastic place for a walk, but I have a significant concern regarding public safety. I've repeatedly seen large dogs, including a 100-pound Rottweiler, being walked off-leash in areas that are clearly not designated dog parks.
This isn't just a minor rule-breaking issue; it's a serious safety hazard. For those of us who don't know the animals, it's impossible to tell if an off-leash dog is friendly or aggressive. These actions are inconsiderate to everyone else trying to enjoy the park, especially families with small children and other dogs on leashes.
Dog owners, please be responsible. Follow the leash laws to ensure our beautiful park remains a safe and enjoyable space for the entire community.
I have over 2000 signatures of Chicago residents.that support harsher penalties and a stricter leash law for self-entitled dog owners who believe they are above the rules and laws. The petition is asking the Department of Animal Care and Control to place their officers in the park and start issuing citations with heavy fines to dog owners if their dog is unleashed.
