If you're like me, unfamiliar with the mayor's new design for Los Altos Park, then you're going to get lost. There are no signs, stencils, or maps directing you there. You just have to walk and hope you don't find yourself at a locked gate and have to backtrack. Once at the actual dog park...there are no shade trees, just a few saplings. The water dispenser doesn't work. There is shredded bark...no grass. The benches are a shiny metal and without any rubber coating (hot hot hot). Do not know how much was spent on this, but the designer was overpaid! People liked walking through the grass...well, through the park. Just relaxing and enjoying the shade or sun. Walking your dog or going to play tennis or both. Everything was locked. The grass was thin and that bark and concrete paths were everywhere. Los Altos Park is gone. Welcome to San Quentin. Come for relaxation, stay because you're lost.

New Dog Park as of 5/25. Lots of space with two closed off areas. One for dogs over 25 pounds and one for dogs under 25 pounds. EDIT: Gap in fence fixed

Who got paid to design this atrocious park?! Why would you put the dog park NEXT TO THE FREEWAY?! A thin chain link fence is all that is separating you from semi-trucks going 70 MPH. It's so close you can literally feel the WHOOSH as traffic roars by... Roars by and SO LOUD you can barely hear yourself think. No sound barrier, nothing. No frost freeze pipe, so the water does not work. No shade. Confusing concrete gates. YOU PUT THE PARKING lot in the middle of the park, then all the activities next to the roads. You should have put the dog park where the parking lot is in the parking lot where the dog park is... This is a terrible design for a park it's not usable it's not functional and it's not going to be used... This is really disappointing that this is what city planning gets you this days.

I love the new park. I love the water fountain for the dogs. Although I wish there were shaded areas.

Noisy by the freeway but nice and convenient enough
