Great spot to relax with a book that has plenty of spots to take in the sun, or under a shady spot, and even on the a small beach setting. Great to take a walk to take in the beauty of the trees and water views. Parking is limited. Handicap spot. Outhouse is next to the lot and was clean. Just bring napkin just in case toilet paper is not stocked. Great for dogs on leash.

Great loop hike with excellent views. What makes this place special are the unique mix of features such as swings, small beaches and fairy garden. There is a small fee to enter the park.

A beautiful 1.25 mile walk around the island with a fairy village and pet cemetery in the middle. Haven't been in years and nothing's changed (slight damage on the pier.) saw many dogs on the walk.

Mackworth Island State Park, located just off the coast of Falmouth, Maine, is a hidden gem for those seeking a peaceful, scenic walk. This small island park offers a 1.5-mile dirt trail that loops around its coastline, providing stunning views of Casco Bay and the surrounding waters. The trail is well-maintained, easy to navigate, and perfect for a leisurely stroll, with several benches strategically placed for visitors to pause and soak in the serene coastal scenery. A few short paths branch off to the water’s edge, offering closer views of the rocky shore and opportunities for quiet reflection. Visitors should make time to explore the Mackworth Island Community Village, and the nearby pet cemetery. These add a layer of character to the experience, making it more than just a nature walk. However, the park’s simplicity comes with some limitations. The lack of restrooms is a noticeable inconvenience, especially for families or those planning a longer visit, so plan accordingly. Parking is also extremely limited, and the park does turn away visitors when spaces are full, which can be frustrating during peak times. Arriving early or visiting during off-peak hours is highly recommended. Overall, Mackworth Island State Park is a delightful spot for a short, scenic hike. It’s perfect for those looking for a quiet escape, but the lack of facilities and limited parking mean you’ll want to plan ahead. Bring water, hit the restroom before you go, and enjoy this charming coastal retreat. Visited: August 2025

Easy and accessible trail loop with great views of the water and spots with secluded beach access. Some picnic tables and benches around the loop as well. Limited parking so get there early in the day and it’s $4 per person for non Maine residents.
