Not very entertaining for small kids but escaping work and enjoying nature? Perfect.
Decent enough for a short walk, but there are invasive plants growing everywhere. Tree of heaven, Japanese Honeysuckle, and Chinese privet just to name a few. These will slowly choke out and kill the native plants and take the rest of the wildlife with it.
As a Brentwood native, I would love to give a 5 star review as I frequently visit for daily walks with my mastiff when visiting my hometown. The paved trail is a nice in town escape. Here is why I have to settle on 3 stars in hopes people can do better as it’s all a matter of common sense and following the rules. First- people please pick up after your dogs. The park offers free bag stations— try using them!! To whomever lets their dog defecate in the middle of the paved path leaving stool land mines, karma comes for us all. To think this is an issue in Brentwood goes to show where I think the area is headed. The duck and geese stool is enough to dodge (mostly in parking and pond areas) let’s do better people. Second- no matter what your dog’s level of training may be it has to be leashed. It is the rules and is disrespectful to other dog owners trying their best to train and maintain positive dog behavior and interactions, let alone walk their own dog(s) peacefully. Retractable leashes are great tools for letting your dog have a balance of freedom if they have a strong recall ability so they are not running up on other dogs. Friendly or not, it’s rude and not good behavior to practice. Otherwise stay on a 4-6ft leash and communicate with your dog and, if necessary, other handlers respectfully.
