Beautiful well maintained park with a children's area, basketball, and tennis courts. There is a soccer and baseball field and areas to barbecue and picnic. Benches are spread through the park to take in the gorgeous views. Many walk their dogs here and there is a mine to tour. Highly recommend if you are in the area. Great hills for sledding and skiing.

Now this is an awesome park. We’re just visiting, but I would absolutely walk our dogs here every day!

Very interesting information about mining. Our tour guide was great. The tour started earlier than we anticipated, so no wait. We enjoyed the tour and learning about things we didn't know. Well worth the low entrance fee!!!!

McDade Park is a bit out of the way as far as parks in Scranton go. There's no buses there so you'll have a bit of a walk from the closest stop on the old forge route or need to drive. It's lots of sections with their own parking areas and bbq / seating. Plenty of paved trails around the pond. If you want a bit more of a nature walk, there are dirt paths on the outer areas of the park, both near the entrance as well as up top. There's basketball and tennis courts, plenty of open areas. Soccer fields up near the top. There's several pavilions though they are typically closed for private events. There are public restrooms. It's not too hard to find your own little corner. My partner and I enjoy bringing a blanket and just laying in the sun relaxing, listening to music. There is a playground close to the entrance with some swings. It does get busy on weekends and after school let's out so plan accordingly if you are looking for a quieter experience... or venture higher as most folks stay in the lower areas.

The mine tour was excellent. The ride down the mine shaft was quite an experience! The video and gift shop were OK. Drove around the rest of the park, and it's very pretty and quaint.
