We traversed Mountain Lake area as part of an urban hike. Playground looked excellent with bathrooms nearby. Popular for dog walkers. Peaceful path and surrounds. Enjoy.

This park is really great for everything. I always come here with my dogs and go to the dog area near the 8th avenue entrance, and if you have kids you can go to the entrance near 10th avenue to be near the playground. There is also a basketball court, tennis courts, and an open field for other activities. It is very easy to access more trails from the park, such as the mountain lake trail if you want to walk there. Also, the lake itself is very pretty, especially around sunset.

There are several entrances you can enter the park from Lake street - from 10th to 12th Avenues. Since Covid, this park has been redone. Water is pristine; children's playground is large with structures for every age; lots of seats with unobstructed views so you can watch your child safely; lots of foliage has been cut and trimmed; and signs letting you know what is planted and significance of that spot. The bathrooms are clean and is right next to the playground. Tennis courts are nearby the area. There are many trails you can take and some trails lead you into the Presidio (about a 2.5 mile walk).

Outstanding playground, views, and nature: Mountain Lake Park in San Francisco is a true hidden gem. Tucked away in the Presidio, it’s a perfect spot to escape the city’s hustle and bustle. The park’s highlight is definitely Mountain Lake, which offers beautiful views and a peaceful vibe. Walking around the lake on the well-kept trails is a great way to relax, and you might even spot some cool wildlife like birds and turtles. For families, the playground is fantastic. It’s safe, fun, and keeps the kids entertained for hours. If you’re into sports, there are tennis courts too. One thing I really appreciate about this park is how clean and well-maintained it is, making every visit pleasant. I love the tranquility. Despite being in the city, it feels like a quiet retreat. Whether you’re sitting by the lake, exploring the trails, or having a picnic, it’s a great place to unwind and enjoy nature. natural beauty, good facilities, peaceful atmosphere… This makes it a must-visit in San Francisco. Whether you live nearby or are just visiting, this park is a perfect escape.

This is in the presidio, but it's really not. It's more of a local park for the locals that just happens to be in the presidio. I wouldn't travel more than like 10 blocks to see this, as gg park is just so much bigger than this little wedge of the presidio. Or just go west to baker beach.
