Normandale dog park not only has 2 different fenced in areas for large and middle sized dogs, it even has a 3rd enclosure for smaller pets. The terrain is big wide open spaces, enough for privacy or for big pupper playtime! It’s a great spot for dogs to interact and find their social platform and ease their anxieties, and I prefer places with more dogs than less. It’s clean, people are respectful, it’s under an aw some canopy of forest, pines, even a ginkgo tree. I’ve seen some of the best sunsets and golden lighting at this location, and it’s got plenty of parking! Friendly dogs welcome!

TLDR: owners have no control over their dogs, and fences are VERY SHORT. First visit and not pleased. I’m new to the area and thought it would be nice to take my dogs out. Didn’t even have a chance to walk up to the gate before a dog was growling, barking, and fence fighting at us. The dog ignored the owner when called, got distracted and proceeded to JUMP the fence into the next yard, and run to the opposite side. Owner kept calling, dog kept ignoring. Then owner left the dog in the yard and WALKED OUT TO HIS CAR for something (I’m assuming a leash, but still not very responsible). I love all dogs, but they ALL need basic training before mixing in public groups. And a dog should NOT be able to jump a fence with ease. It didn’t get the chance to turn into a bad situation, but it had lots of potential and I’m not taking chances with my two girls. Not saying I’ll never be back again, but it definitely won’t be for a while.

My little buddy absolutely loves coming here and getting to really run! I’m so pleased they have a separate area for small doggos! He is sweet but not the most social so he does well with other littles.

-Three areas: mixed dogs, large dogs, small dogs -Bark/sand/dirt. No grass inside the dog areas. -Fully fenced -All areas are connected with a gate to get access from each area to another -Two water stations in mixed dog area. A spigot, so plenty of water. -NO trash cans inside the areas. Just one outside by the main entrances to the areas and not maintained. -There are restrooms -Playground for kids outside dog areas -On street parking in residential area. Was not hard to find a spot on a Saturday afternoon. There is a little strip for parking, but that does seem like it would fill decently quick.

One of the few fully fenced dog parks in the metro area unfortunately is also host to some of the city’s worst behaved dogs. The dogs who frequent this park like to bully and bite, especially smaller dogs under 35lbs, and the owners are not ones to take responsibility. I had to fight off three or four large dogs who chased down my friendly 1-year-old puppy. Be forewarned if you have a timid or young dog and avoid this park.
