Update: Looks like one of the water fountains has been fixed. The one that has been broken for over a year is still not fixed. This park has so much potential, especially for dog owners. It’s one of the better free places in the area to let your dog off-leash and enjoy some open space without worry. While we haven’t used the fenced dog area in nearly a year, we often spend time in the surrounding grassy park and walking trail, which are spacious and relaxing. That said, there are a few areas that need attention. The trash hasn’t been picked up in some time, and both water fountains are out of service—one has been broken for over a year, and the other is heading in that direction. Considering this is a city park, with surrounding areas undergoing renovations, it would be great to see some of that effort put into improving the dog park. Whether it’s fixing the existing one or adding another smaller fenced area on the opposite side of the park, it would help reduce crowding and enhance the experience for everyone. More dog-friendly spaces like this are needed, and with a little care, this one could really shine.

Huge dog park, lots of area for the pups to run around. Relatively well taken care of, I did see a few bricks here and there which could be a bad combination with dogs running at full speed. There is also a mud pit in the middle which the dogs love, so fair warning, you and the dogs will be dirty.

BE AWARE BRINGING YOUR DOGS HERE !! I was visiting the dog park today as I usually do with my dog. Today is her birthday so i decided to come to the dog park to celebrate with other dogs. These two hispanic ladies one short and one tall came with a husky german shepherd mix. Shortly after they arrived my dog got attacked by this dog. I was literally two steps away from my dog and grabbed their dog off of mine. My dog was leaking blood and i asked for the ladies information and told them i would be calling law enforcement because they didnt answer my questions about their dogs vaccines. This Lady gave me a wrong number to some mortgage company in chapin and hauled away before i could even get out of the park gates. They were driving a black jeep. So be cautious taking your dogs to this park regardless if your new or a regular these people are weird !! my dog is now traumatized, she has always been dog friendly and has been around dogs her whole life. She didnt even try to bite the dog back she was literally on the ground and her birthday outfit is messed up as well! You didnt even try to grab your dog and I hope you see this and know when i see you again i will be pressing charges !! - sincerely a hurt dog mom and a hurt birthday girl…

Clean water, lots of shade and open space to run. The wood chips look clean and it looks like people do clean up after their dogs. Supplies are available for picking up the poo. Including a scooper. There is also a basket full of tennis balls, and some other dog toys such as ropes and other chewables. Friendly people as well as fun friendly dogs. My baby had an absolute blast, and when I tried to leave she begged to go back, she was already wore out, and still stayed another hour and had tons and tons of fun.

I would say that’s the best dog park in downtown Columbia. There are two water fountains for the dogs, poop bags, and free toys (tennis balls, tugging toys). Dogs are well behaved. And it’s free.
