Panola Mountain State Park is a beautiful park! There is so much to do there from fishing, the trails and so much more. I booked the Alexander Pavilion behind the Parker House for an event and there was plenty of room at the pavilion! The grill was really big and also there is plenty of room for children to run around!
It’s clean and peaceful. There are spider webs above you everywhere but that’s because us good eating for them. The lake is peaceful and people fish there all the time. Well-cared for path and beautiful scenery along the way.
Great park with an easy, paved hiking trail. The trail is well-maintained and perfect for a relaxing walk or hike. However, I noticed that many people get confused when trying to reach the park. Apple Maps directs you to a gate that is closed to cars—it’s meant for bicycles and pedestrians only. Here’s a tip: As you’re approaching the park, slow down and keep an eye out on your left side. Look for a small sign that says: “PANOLA MOUNTAIN STATE PARK ALEXANDER LAKE TRAILHEAD ARCHERY RANGE” (I’ve attached a picture of the sign to help.) When you see this sign, turn right (yes, right at the sign), and you’ll find the parking lot just down that road. Aside from the entrance confusion, the park itself is fantastic and very easy to hike. Highly recommended!
A nice place to spend some time in nature. This is a place to go fishing, running, walking, biking, or have a small picnic. Parking is $5 unless you have the yearly state pass. The trail connects to the Panola and Arabia mountain trails. The Alexander Trail Loop is about 1.8 miles.
We sure love this Park! It's easily accessible to our house and the trails are interesting and fun not to mention the beauty, especially now, in Spring! A nice fact...I'm a disabled veteran of the Liberation of Kuwait, and when i buy my annual pass they give me my military and senior citizen discount! Ahhhhhh! What's not to love?!!!! And yes, they now allow your favorite little 4-legged friends! And what's even more cool, in one photo we can see all the way to Stone Mountain!!!!!
