Pawgrass at Welleby Park

Nice clean park. Lacks trees and no dog obstacle course or interactive objects. Opens at 10 am to 530pm mon, tues, thur, fri, sat and sun. Opens late on Wednesday at 1pm , for maintenance/ cleaning maintenance. Three areas, small ,medium and large dog areas.

The best doggy park! Clean, sitting space, and divided in three for the following weight classes: 1. Dogs under 10lbs (such a wonderful idea as this is not common to find at other parks) 2. 10-25lbs and 3. 25lbs plus. They have misting fire hydrants for the hotter days, clean grassy areas, and so much space for all dogs to run and play.

It was the first time bringing my puppy to a dog park and since she's a pitbull I was concerned how others would react without knowing she's super gentle and submissive. All the owners and dogs there were kind and welcoming and my baby had a blast. I highly recommend this place because it has a large area for the bigger dogs and owners are very responsible and picking up after their pups.

Welleby is a beautiful park in the City of Sunrise. I've reviewed it but this review is for the dog park portion. The dog park is called Pawgrass at Welleby Park. There were plenty of parking every time we've been. There are three sections; small, medium, and large dogs area. The dogs are allowed to be unleashed in the fenced in areas. The owners must clean up after their dogs. The specifics and rules are posted on their website. I noticed there were times the grass was gone and bare; I think they've fixed that since the last time I've been and try to maintain it. Overall, a great spot to let the pups loose.

A nice area for the dogs to roam free. On a hot sunny day, the benches would have been nice to sit on if the shade actually blocked the sun. Otherwise, certain trees provided some shade. The small dog area was clean, except for someone who didn’t pick up after their dog. Otherwise, I would definitely come again. The only thing I don’t like is the closing at 5:30pm. It would be nice to have it be closed a bit later, when it’s a bit cooler in the evening. Then again, it’s Florida. The heat is unbearable! I did see some water fountains but didn’t check it out. Make sure to bring some water for your babies.
