Pelican Cove Park

Such a lovely spot! You can take a nice short hike down to the beach, and spend some relaxing time by the shoreline surrounded by rocks (lol). The views are beautiful, and the amount of pelicans here definitely does justice to the park’s name. Truly a peaceful place to enjoy the ocean, watch wildlife, and unwind.

The main hike is on top of the cliffs. That is easy. The hard part is the steep climb down to below the cliffs and then back up. Once down, you will get to climb atop many boulders that extend out towards the sea. We saw a starfish clinging to a rock. Would do this again.

A bit of a hike down and up but it had a beautiful view of the ocean and the cliff side. There were also lots of interesting rock structures in eye view. I wouldn't say that this a swimming beach due to the amount of rocks but to each their own. I also wouldn't recommend going down as you may struggle going up the hill to the parking lot and bathroom area. I also suggest wearing good shoes if you head down this beach as you could slip on the trail if wearing just slippers.

if you come here, LEAVE NO TRACE. it’s a beautiful and serene slice of heaven and should be treated as such. there were beautiful tide pools at low tide with lots to explore. we saw starfish, isopods, lots of hermit crabs, and a bounty of sea anemones. a great place to go when LA gets a little too loud.
