Its so beautiful at Peters Canyon. There are several ways to walk the trails.

This is one of our favorite spots to frequent. It opens earlier than other local hiking and you can easily watch the sunrise from the top of one of the small peaks. We do about a 4 mile loop and it’s the perfect way to get out and about in the early morning before it gets too hot.

Decent family friendly hikes of all difficulty levels

Many loops. Several steep climbs. Beautiful views. Parking on public streets. Most can complete the hike in 1-2 hrs, so there's enough people coming and going.

Pleasant Park. The main "loop" is mostly flat with a couple of steel hills so it's enough to get you sweating. The views are nice enough, the park is very skinny so it's a trail with several meters of chaparral habitat on each side and housing/roads beyond that. You certainly won't feel immersed in nature but you can hear the birds and smell the plants. I especially enjoyed the short creek trail, where we saw some crayfish and tadpoles. We went on an overcast day so we didn't struggle with heat.
