This is a beautiful park with plenty of space for a picnic or for the kids to run and play. Be aware of the goose poo. It is everywhere. All of the gardens are beautiful and not overly large. The rose garden smells beautiful and the Japanese garden is cute. The (walking) bridge, across the way, takes you to the chutes and ladders that lead down to the boat dock or Vashon/ Tahlequah Ferry. The view at the top of the chutes & ladders is beautiful. The park is in the roundabout taking you to the zoo, marina, Owen Beach, Fort Nisqually & 5 mile drive.

Biking, hiking, polar bear plunges in springtime. Add a zoo and a living heritage museum in the summer, plus stunning views at various places along the peninsula, and you've got a lovely-day destination almost any time if year.

I was traveling through the area and randomly decided to stop - and it ended up being one of my favorite stops on Puget Sound! Great spot to looks for seals, birds, and sometimes orcas. And you can view Mt Rainier and watch the ferries go by

It is a beautiful place to walk and watch the water! It was pretty crowded on this beautiful day, but there was still room for everyone to walk along the path.
