I wanted to put out a warning with the experience I've had with quincy humane society. As someone who's been fostering for different places for over a year now and a pet owner the QHS is sketchy to say the least. I offered to be a cat foster and two weeks later they messaged me about two dogs needing fostering. I said I usually only do cats but wouldn't mind taking one of the dogs for a few days. I was assured the dog was potty trained to their knowledge and safe around people / pets. The dog was extremely aggressive and very much not potty trained, I understand fosters are unpredictable but to boldface say an animal is potty trained and later tell me they say that for all of their animals if they don't know is shady. They also gave me a gallon ziplock baggie for a 65lb dog and after the weekend I agreed to take him, never contacted me about taking him back to the point I had to get ahold of them to bring the dog back after he tried attacking multiple of my neighbors dogs. Not only that but a few years ago a family member of mine adopted kittens they ended up not being able to take care of, I brought the kittens in as their agreement says any animals that don't work out need to be brought back, again I did not adopt these kitten or have any involvement with them. I was placed on a do not let adopt list and treated horribly every time I came in after that with awful looks and mean comments from multiple staff members. As someone who spends a lot of time with shelter animals (dogs AND cats) a home is better than a shelter any day and it feels to a detriment to treat someone who's done nothing wrong so awfully is just harmful to the animals. With kitten season coming up I just want everyone to be aware of the places you might be looking at fostering or adopting from.
They do a monthly low cost spay/neuter clinic and as a volunteer for our town's new animal shelter I am able to be a driver to to'taxi' animals for people who can't take their own pets or any stray they can catch, crate and pay the low fee for Quincy Humane Shelter.
Went to get my dog registered and the woman we encountered was more than welcoming, very pleasant environment and Pan LOVED the large dog park! Thank you!!
What a delightful place to visit. If you are a lover of animals and are looking for a pet, I can recommend it very highly. The staff are friendly and super nice, and the animals are as well. Adopting is easy and rewarding and can brighten a solitary life for you and a pet.
I adopted a large dog named Phoenix. I couldn't imagine life without him in the short time I have had him. He is such a good dog.
