After enjoying two beers at nearby Many Good Things Brewing, I walked a bit along the riverside. No barges passing this time but it was still an amazing view that goes north around the bend and south to see the beautiful Bill Emerson Memorial Bridge. Some seating here and a few captions, don't miss the "high water" marks on the floodwall. Holy smokes!

We just parked to look at the river. There was a train going north as the flooded river rushes south. The mural wall is incredible! The steel/iron? sculptures are amazing! The older homes in the area were a delight to admire. That bridge.. watched a tugboat swiftly going against the current pushing two barges! An all black or Army green helicopter flew overhead, too. Not sure who it was, or why they were there. Maybe someone owns one? Enjoyed the day.

One of my Favorite places to get grounded and sit and be. The River wall Mural is Amazing. Be sure to peek at the angel wings to the north and other artwork and sculptures along the wall and grounds. It is always fun when one of the magnificent "Queen" paddlewheelers stops by for a docking and visit. They are a sight to behold.

I grew up here, so this area has been many different things over the years. But now it's a spot I stop at each time visiting Cape. I wouldn't plan an entire day out here unless you REALLY like one bridge and a handful of tugboats. If you're adventurous and the river is low head south past the trails below the overlook built on the old bridge ramp. Or drive there. I don't care. There are engravings in the rocks from the Seminary students from 130 years ago.

Beautiful walk along the river on both sides of the mural wall.
