Historically, Riverside Park in Detroit served as a vital industrial and maritime hub along the Detroit River, once overshadowed by the massive Ambassador Bridge. For years, the park suffered from neglect and restricted access due to surrounding industrial activity. However, a multi-million-dollar revitalization has transformed it into a cornerstone of the city’s green infrastructure, reclaiming the shoreline for public use while honoring its identity as a gateway between the United States and Canada. In winter, the park’s natural beauty takes on a stark, majestic character. The Detroit River becomes a stage for shifting ice floes, where massive sheets of white ice drift rhythmically past the shoreline. These floating ice sculptures, set against the backdrop of the soaring Ambassador Bridge and the biting Great Lakes wind, create a powerful, crystalline landscape that highlights the raw strength of the river even in the depths of the freeze. On a human level, Riverside Park in winter feels like a resilient urban sanctuary. It bridges Detroit’s gritty industrial heritage with a vibrant, inclusive future. Watching the ice move beneath the bridge’s shadow, there is a profound sense of connection—to the water, to international neighbors, and to the city's enduring spirit of renewal.

Beautiful park, well kept, gorgeous views of the river and bridge. Scenic view a top a hill. Skate park. Fitness area and picnic shelters. Benches and swinging benches! I know they hold makers markets too. Also has boat launch and more seating/parking on the other end of park.

This is one of the best spots in Wayne County /Detroit in general. It really is such a stunning area. An area you can come to, to escape the harsh work week. There's soo many things for different types of people. Whether you're into fitness, sports, a parent, and just a casual wanderer this is the best spot to be at. Just hope it stays nice and kept up. Nice things in Detroit have a way of turning into hot garbage pretty quickly and I can't understand why. The city really went above and beyond to create a beautiful masterpiece for everyone to enjoy. It's very difficult to come out here and not be amazed by the sheer beauty and engineering. Hats off to the city for finally listening to its people. Consider my mind finally changed about this town.

Very popular for family events and fishing. It offer a nice view of the Ambassador bridge and Detroit river, especially at night. People do leave trash everywhere which is sad. Even the river bank has a lot of leftover fishing lines and hooks. If you come here to fish, better show up at 7am otherwise area fill up pretty fast. There are even more people at night time too. Everybody does jigging here, especially walleye season. Clean up after yourself.
